About us
When someone is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, life for that person and for those around them is never the same again. From diagnosis, a new journey begins.
We believe in being there for all the family.
North Devon Hospice is a local charity, supporting individuals and families who are faced with the impact of a life-limiting illness. Whilst many of our patients have been diagnosed with cancer, we also care for people with heart failure, Motor Neurone disease, liver failure, dementia and other life-limiting illnesses. We provide care and support across North Devon, helping over 100 people every day, completely free of charge.
We continue to take significant steps to bring our care and support closer to people in the community; ensuring people are cared for in the place of their choice. This includes building on our specialist community services so we can support people at home when they are approaching the final stages of their journey.
Our mission
Patients are at the heart of everything we do. The quality of their personal and medical experience is of key importance to us. Our mission is to promote the relief of symptoms amongst people with life-limting illnesses. We do this through:
-
Specialist palliative care for patients with an advanced, progressive illness and the adults and children who are close to the patient
-
Personal care to patients at the end-of-life and support to their families at home and in other settings
-
Supportive care to patients who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and the adults and children who are close to the patient
-
Advice, support and education provision to patients, families, communities, organisations, and healthcare professionals who are responding to life-limiting illness, death and loss
We believe in
- Being there for all the family
- Recognising and treating each person as an individual
- The caring support that is provided
- The sense of safety that closeness to the hospice brings
- The expertise of our professional staff
