After the success of the first ever Man Trek event in 2013, the men-only event is back with a bang this year. New for 2014 is the addition of an extra route, meaning you can now walk from Barnstaple to Bideford, from Bideford to Barnstaple or from Instow to Barnstaple.

Join us on Sunday 9th March 2014 for a sponsored walk along the Tarka Trail. Depending on the route you choose, you'll finish at either Barnstaple or Bideford Rugby Club to watch the crunch England v Wales Six Nations game on big screens. You'll also get a free pasty and a pint to complete this ultimate boys day out!

Walk image for web This year you can choose from 3 routes:
- Barnstaple to Bideford: An 11-mile walk starting at Barnstaple Rugby Clubhouse and following the Tarka Trail, finishing at Bideford Rugby Club
- Bideford to Barnstaple: Exactly the same route, but in reverse, finishing at Barnstaple Rugby Clubhouse
- Instow to Barnstaple: A 7 mile walk starting at Instow Yacht Club and finishing at Barnstaple Rugby Club
Pasty image for web At Fremington Quay Cafe (which all walkers will pass through regardless of your chosen route) you will be treated to a free cuppa and a free delicious hot pasty, courtesy of Blackwells of Bideford. There will also be live music to keep the party atmosphere going while you enjoy your pasty, which should give you the energy for the final push to the finish!

Pint image for web Having walked all those miles, you'll be welcomed at the finish line with a well-earned free pint. Your free pint of St Austell beer can be claimed at either finishing point, Barnstaple RFC or Bideford RFC Clubhouses, so you can sup up before enjoying the game (a soft option will also be available should you so wish).
Rugby image for web At both rugby clubs, you can enjoy the England v Wales Six Nations match on a number of big screens (3pm KO), enjoying the big game atmosphere with hundreds of fellow Man Trekkers. The bar will be open throughout the day, and hot food will also be available to purchase, so you can really make a day of it!
Small Print image for web All walkers must be 16 years or over. Please choose your route (11-mile or 7-mile) carefully, as it could be a cold Spring day and we want to make sure you complete the walk comfortably. Man Trek is a sponsored walk in aid of North Devon Hospice and by signing up, each walker is pledging to raise a minimum of £50 sponsorship (or by donation). There are many ways in which you can achieve this, including putting on your own small fundraising event to raise money (such as a quiz in your local), or you might fancy getting a company team together and raising funds (perhaps with the backing of your employer). When you register, we'll send you lots of fundraising tips and ideas to make it easier. By signing up to Man Trek, you are also confirming that you are fit and healthy enough to take part in the event and have no medical conditions that prevent your participation. If you have any questions, please call Gerard Fawcitt on 01271 347224 or email
