In memoriam events
When someone dies, it is only natural that we seek ways of remembering them. At the hospice we have developed two annual events that give people the chance to remember a loved one in a meaningful and sensitive way.
Light up a life - Light up a life is a series of services held all over North Devon throughout December. Christmas is a difficult time. Light up a life services give people the opportunity to celebrate someone's life by lighting a candle. These services have proved extremely helpful over the years and people have commented on how supportive and comforting the experience has been.
Floating Bye - Floating Bye is held every summer and is another opportunity to remember a loved one. It sees a large raft, decorated with flowers, floated out with the tide at Instow. People are invited to write a message to a loved one and place it with a flower on the raft before it is floated down the estuary at sunset. This year's event is on Sunday 11th July and more people than ever are expected to gather to say their farewells to those who have died.
If you would like to find a meaningful way to remember a loved one, please contact Su Massey at the hospice. We would be delighted to hear from you.
