English National Sheep Dog Trials and Devon Country Fayre
21st - 23rd August 2009 - Castle Hill, Filleigh, North Devon

There will be plenty going on to keep all the family entertained over the weekend. Your ticket not only gives you the delights of the nation's top sheep dogs in action and our Devon Country Fayre, but it will also give you access to the beautiful grounds of the Castle Hill Estate. Devon Country Fayre

This Country Fayre will allow you to experience some of the best produce and activities Devon has to offer - there will also be an exciting range of country pursuits on display.

  • Arena containing activities, displays and entertainment each hour starting at 10.00am each day
  • Craft Marquee with over 50 arts and crafts stalls
  • Food marquee with a huge range of local produce to temp your taste buds
  • Interactive activities for all the family
  • Refreshments available all day with a range of locally produced foods

The local Country Life Brewery have even brewed a special beer just for this event!


English National Sheep Dog Trials

Sheep Dog trialling has been hugely popular in this country since 'One Man and His Dog' hit our screens in the mid-eighties. The huge success of the show (which drew audiences of over 8 million) cemented this delightful rural skill in the hearts and minds of the British public.

  • 150 dogs and their handlers competing to represent ther country
  • 3 days of competition
  • Trials running throughout each day from 8.00am - 6.00pm
  • First time the event has come to North Devon

Castle Hill Estate

Castle Hill was built in 1730 as the Earl Fortescue's North Devon residence. The Earl and The Countess of Arran MBE DL, descendents of Earl Fortescue, currently live on the estate and have kindly allowed this event to take place on their grounds.
