Aim:

To enable all staff to provide practical, non-pharmacological approaches to relieve symptoms in the last year of life

Learning Outcomes:

To acquire non-pharmacological approaches to common symptoms in life limiting illness:

  • Breathlessness
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Pain
  • Swallowing difficulties

To be able to take a holistic approach to care of the dying person, considering their Psychological, Spiritual, Physical and Social needs

To be familiar with a range of Complementary Therapies to relieve symptoms at end of life

To introduce basic hand massage technique
