Job title: Community & Events Fundraiser
What does your job entail?
I work with groups and individuals in the community who want to fundraise for the hospice and I help them achieve that! This can be going out and giving talks to WIs and community groups, attending events, creating resources, or helping to promote. We have a great range of events going on in North Devon whether that’s bingo nights, open gardens, ferret racing, or something completely different, I never know what’s going to be coming through the door next!
How did you get into the charity sector?
As part of my undergraduate degree, I had a year-long placement in industry. I did two placements, one of which was at the hospice. When I finished my degree, I saw this position advertised and knew I had to go back.
What do you enjoy about working at the hospice?
I get to work with a great bunch of people every day, whether that’s staff or being out in the community talking to fundraisers, no day is the same and you don’t know what’s going to happen next. Also the food in the Terrace Café is pretty great.
A fun fact about me that you might not expect
I can play the piano and have done since I was nine.
