Job title: IT Apprentice

What does your job entail?

It covers quite a large range of duties, mostly level 1 and level 2 support, which involves making sure that people on-site and off-site are looked after with everything IT, it also involves a small amount of work on the back-end of our systems, including setting up new users, making sure our Data backups run correctly and helping with new equipment that we get in to the hospice to name a few.

How did you get into the charity sector?

I originally used to work for a Wholesale company as a Business apprentice, but after my Apprenticeship had ended they took someone else on, I decided that I wanted to pursue a career that I had taken an interest in for a long time. (Since secondary school), and I was lucky enough at the time to be offered said opportunity by the Hospice.

What do you enjoy about working at the hospice?

I love the people I work with here, everyone since I started here has been beyond welcoming and helpful to me, and I couldn’t ask for a more friendly set of people to see and talk to every day, the satisfaction from giving back to my colleagues is easily one of the most enjoyable things I do here.

A fun fact about me that you might not expect

I played a lead role back in Primary school as Ebenezer Scrooge for our Christmas play, and there’s also a DvD floating around with a song I had to sing about hating everyone!
