Our patients are at the heart of everything we do and we are excited to be advertising for a part-time Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Medical Director. You will be an integral part of the Hospice’s senior management team and, as an employee of Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, you will play a key role in the development of a fully integrated Palliative Care Service for North Devon and support the health community to deliver the End of Life Strategy. You will also be part of the network of Palliative Medicine Consultants also based at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with whom NDHT has a formal collaboration.
Through the passion of over 160 staff and over 500 volunteers, we achieved care last year for over 2,000 people. Whether in one of our 7 beds on our bedded unit in Barnstaple, through one of the 4,800 visits carried out by our community nurse specialists, one of the 6,406 hours spent with patients in their home by our Hospice to Home team or as one of the 300 people cared for at our outreach centre in Holsworthy, we believe, very simply, that the patient comes first. Not only is our Hospice located in the beautiful grounds of Deer Park, our county is frequently rated as one of the best places to live in the UK. We have some of the largest unspoilt beaches in the UK, as well as a number of areas of outstanding natural beauty, including Exmoor, Lundy Island and the stunning South West coast path on our doorstep. Together with Michelin star restaurants and cosy country pubs, North Devon offers a fantastic mix of family, cultural and outdoor activities
If you would enjoy working in a truly integrated care model across the Hospice, hospital and in the community as well as delivering education to our healthcare partners then please get in touch.
For an informal discussion, prospective candidates are encouraged to contact Mr Stephen Roberts Chief Executive, North Devon Hospice on 01271 347 239 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
