Terrace Cafe Assistant Volunteer

The Terrace Cafe at Deer Park, the main hospice site in Barnstaple, is set in beautiful grounds with stunning views of the gardens and the Devon countryside beyond and our  wonderful catering team are looking for help. They are looking for enthusiastic, friendly people to join their team.  There are various roles available from waiting tables, taking orders and processing sales through the electronic till to washing up in the commercial kitchen, preparing vegetables, assisting our chefs and preparing sandwiches and platters for our external catering business. 

For further details please see the full role description attached below, which details the various aspects of the role.  We like to offer flexibility and therefore you can decide which aspects suit you best.  You may decide to combine multiple aspects to give you variety, it all depends on your interest, skills and your available time.

Full training will be given prior to commencing your role and you will benefit by being part of our wonderful catering team and knowing you are supporting the work of the hospice and your local community.  You will meet new people, you might even learn new skills or perhaps utilise existing skills.  You may gain in confidence or just enjoy being part of a team. 

Our volunteers are vital to the smooth running of the hospice and making our visitors feel welcome.  Everything our volunteers do directly supports the care we are able to offer patients and their families across North Devon.  By assisting in this way you are directly helping your local community and supporting the work of North Devon Hospice.

We will never sell your data however we are obliged by law to inform you that should we be required to we may share your data with external agencies. This may include but is not limited to Acevo / UCheck (a service for managing and processing Disclosure & Barring Service clearance applications) and other government agencies. If your application is unsuccessful we will retain your information for 12 months; after this date it will be safely destroyed.
