Volunteer Retail Assistant - Bideford Shop. Various shifts available, please ask for details

Our Bideford hospice shop has several vacancies across the week so please do contact us if you think this is something you would like to know a little more about.

As a retail volunteer you would be processing sales and taking payments using our electronic till system, welcoming our customers and generally supporting the shop manager.  You don’t need any previous experience to volunteer with us, we will provide free training, all we ask is a willingness to work as part of a team. Having a good attention to detail is important and some customer service experience or an interest in fashion would be welcomed but these are not essential.  You will be joining a friendly and supportive team and we offer a taster session to ensure you are happy with what you are being asked to undertake before you commit to anything.

There are many benefits to volunteering, such as growing in self confidence, improving physical & mental wellbeing, meeting new people, learning new skills and improving your employability or boosting your CV for college, Uni and job applications.  All our volunteers directly help local people, in your local community so you will also know you are doing something worthwhile.

Our retail volunteers provide vital support for our shop managers, helping to raise much needed funds, which is as important now as it’s ever been, so the hospice can continue to offer outstanding care & support to patients with life limited illnesses and their loved ones. Our retail volunteers provide an invaluable service that we couldn't be without!

We rely on our volunteers to keep our shops open so reliability is key along with a good sense of humour and bundles of enthusiasm.  Having a taster session gives you the opportunity to really get an idea of what the role involves before making a commitment and it's a great way to know whether this is the role for you. We will arrange for you to meet the manager, and some of the team, during your taster session once we have received your application.  Reasonable travel expense may be reimbursed, once agreed with the shop manager, in advance.

Debby, our Bideford shop manager is waiting to welcome you to the team so please get in touch with the Volunteer Office or download the application form below.

Make time, make friends and make a difference.

It is important that the people who work for and with us, or access any of our services, can be themselves and are valued as unique individuals.  We welcome applications from all sections of the communities we serve, reflecting the uniqueness of each person, with the aim of continually improving our services.

We are a forces-friendly organisation and welcome applications from Veterans and Service spouses and partners.
