We are looking for additional support at our Northgate Hospice shop for a Friday afternoon.
You would be processing sales and take payments using our electronic till system, welcoming our customers and supporting the shop manager. Attention to detail is essential and, although you do not require any previous experience as full training will be given prior to commencing your role, an interest in customer service would be desired. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team. The many benefits of volunteering include meeting new people, learning new skills, utilising your existing skills, gaining confidence, improving your employability and boost your CV for college, Uni and job applications and you would become part of our fantastic retail team. All our volunteers are directly helping local people, in your local community and volunteering also boosts your own mental & physical wellbeing.
Our retail volunteers provide vital support for our shop managers, helping to raise much needed funds, which is as important now as it’s ever been, so the hospice can continue to offer outstanding care & support to patients with life limited illnesses and their loved ones. Our retail volunteers provide an invaluable service that we couldn't be without!
You don’t need any previous experience to volunteer with us, we will provide free training, all we ask is a willingness to work as part of a team. We do rely on our volunteers to keep our shops open so reliability is key along with a good sense of humour and bundles of enthusiasm. Having a taster session gives you the opportunity to really get an idea of what the role involves before making a commitment and it's a great way to know whether this is the role for you. We will arrange for you to meet the manager, and some of the team, during your taster session once we have received your application. Also, reasonable travel expense can be reimbursed, once agreed with the shop manager, in advance.
