Living in Devon, who doesn’t love a cream tea? The soft scone that splits open so easily in your hands, spread with a thick layer of indulgent Rodda's clotted cream and topped with a generous helping of your favourite Tiptree jam. Pair that with your favourite cuppa (or a glass of bubbles) on a glorious summer’s day, what could be more perfect?

We want you join us for cream tea celebrations throughout the summer with anyone you can share it with.

Enjoy a socially distanced cream tea with friends in your garden or neighbours on your street, or how about giving someone you can’t visit a call and sharing a cream tea apart, together. Cream teas are the perfect way to reconnect with old friends and distant loved ones, and doing it for the hospice means you are helping keep families together when facing a life-limiting illness.

People facing an incurable illness, or facing the loss of someone they love, are confronting some of the toughest times of their lives. It's a time when they need their family and friends the most, but that's not possible right now, at least not in the same way. The care of the hospice therefore becomes even more vital during these times.

The demand for North Devon Hospice's care has understandably gone up in the last few weeks, but all our fundraising events have had to be cancelled and our charity shops have had to close.

This is why your support is so desperately needed.

This handy guide will give useful tips on how to safely arrange a cream tea party, bake scrumptious scones with a recipe straight from the Hospice kitchen, and maximise your fundraising.

You can hold your cream tea party any time over the summer, but whenever you decide to hold it we'd love to hear about it. Make sure to use #NationalCreamTeaDay and tag North Devon Hospice in your photos on social media, or get in touch on fundraising@northdevonhospice.org.uk.

Don't forget the Rodda's cream and Tiptree jam!

When you've decided to join us for a cream tea, raising funds will be easy. People will want to join you for a cream tea, either physically or virtually, and donate to your party. You will inspire others to support the cause, because frontline hospice care is vital right now.

To make a quick, one-off donation of £5, text CREAMTEA to 70085. Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message.

To set up your online giving page, click the button below. It takes just a couple of minutes, then you can share the link with your friends and followers on social media.

Keep sharing the link until you've reached your target. It could be you ask your social media followers to donate the cost of a cream tea to your page, or they set up their own virtual cream tea party! Ask people to sponsor your bake-a-thon or ask neighbours if they would give a donation in exchange for a cream tea delivery.

If you need help setting up your page or with reaching your total, we're here to help you! Get in touch at fundraising@northdevonhospice.org.uk, we'd love to hear from you.
