Men who want to make a difference, while enjoying a walk with mates, a few beers and some great rugby
Men of North Devon, let's walk in solidarity with guys in our community who need your support. Let's walk for men like Simon from Bradworthy, who's been diagnosed with terminal cancer and is being supported by the hospice. Let's walk to make a difference while enjoying a great day out with our mates, enjoying a few beers together and cheering on England in the Six Nations.
Start your NEW YEAR in the right way and sign up for the Men's Rugby Ramble today.
Short version: Walk > 3x free beers > Free pasty > Watch the rugby together with a curry.
Full version: A scenic 5-mile circular walk from Barnstaple Rugby Club, with a free hot pasty to get you going. Don't worry if you think the walk sounds like thirsty work, we got your back! You'll enjoy two beer stops on the route, where you'll be treated to a free pint. Then, at the finish line, you'll get another free pint (to make sure you're fully re-hydrated!).
Once back at the club, you'll also get a free curry (as well as other hot buffet choices) before we settle in to cheer on England v Ireland in the Six Nations. There are also a whole load of treats planned on the route and back at the clubhouse, so this will be a top day out for you and your mates.
Best of all, by taking part, you'll be supporting other men who are currently being cared for by North Devon Hospice. You'll be helping men who are facing the loss of a loved one. You'll be helping men who are facing the end of their life to make sure they are comfortable, free of pain and surrounded by their family.
Barnstaple Rugby Club is the start and finish point of the scenic circular walk, with two beers stops along the route. Upon reaching the finish line, there's plenty of room for us all to gather and enjoy the crunch Six Nations game between England and Ireland on the big screens.
There'll also be lots of rugby-related fun to enjoy back at the rugby club, and this is guaranteed to be the best atmosphere anywhere in North Devon.
For your bargain entry fee of just £20 you get:
- Rugby Ramble hat to wear with pride and show your support
- Hot pasty at the start
- 3x free beers along the route
- Curry and hot buffet at the finish
- Best atmosphere in North Devon to watch the England v Ireland Six Nations game
Your entry fee only covers the cost of staging such a large scale event, and offering such a great day out. It is your sponsorship, fundraising or donation which will make a difference to local men who need the support of North Devon Hospice.
Two of your free pints on the route will be provided courtesy of St Austell Brewery. Your free pint at our Irish-themed 'Shamrock Bar' is provided courtesy of Guinness.
The event is open to men over 16 years of age (please note that 16 and 17 year old will be given soft drinks on the day, instead of the beer being offered to those 18 and over)
Why take part in the Men's Rugby Ramble? It's quite simple; other local men need your support.
There are local men who are facing the end of their life, but your support means they can be properly cared for, pain-free, and able to create lasting memories with their loved one in their final months, weeks or days.
Another vital part of the work of the hospice is supporting people who are facing the loss of a loved one. So your support means people like Steve from Barnstaple can access counselling following the loss of his wife earlier this year...
It's time for men to band together and walk in support of each other, because some day we could all be in the position of needing support from North Devon Hospice.
Every pound you raise will make a difference to someone local who is facing a tough time. So please step out to show your support, to provide care and comfort to those who need it.
Register now for just £20. The event is open to men over 16 years of age (please note that 16 and 17 year old will be given soft drinks on the day, instead of the beer being offered to those 18 and over)
Your registration fee only covers the cost of staging such a large scale event. With your entry you get 3x free pints, a pasty at the start, curry at the finish and of course your Men's Rugby Ramble hat to wear with pride.
It is your sponsorship and fundraising efforts that will help local men who are facing the end of their life, or facing the loss of a loved one.
The Men's Rugby Ramble is a sponsored event, where all funds raised by you will help local patients and families being cared for by North Devon Hospice. There is a suggested minimum target of £50, and you can chose how you achieve this; either by raising sponsorship from family and friends, doing some fundraising (like a raffle at work), or simply making a donation yourself.
We are sure it will be easy to hit your target, because once you register we'll send you a whole pack of hints and tips to help you smash it. Here's just a few easy ways in which you can hit your target:
1) The easiest thing is to set up a JustGiving or Virgin Giving page. Share this with your friends, family and colleagues via email and social media, and watch the donations pour in. You can also download and print a sponsor form if you prefer to ask people face-to-face (this is very effective!)
2) Hold a small fundraising event, such as a raffle at work or a quiz at the pub. This is an easy way to raise money if you feel you can't ask people for sponsorship (here are some fundraising tips to help you out too!)
The Men's Rugby Ramble would not be possible without the support of our wonderful sponsors. Thank you.
If you would like your business to be associated with the Men's Rugby Ramble, please get in touch to find out how you can show your support. Contact Claire Paine on 01271 347232 or email email@example.com.
With thanks to our other sponsors:
