Santas on the Beach - thank you for signing up 2019

Thank you for you registering to take part in Santas on the Beach on Sunday 8th December 2019. We hope it will get you into the festive mood. Please find below all the information you need to safely enjoy the event.



  • Arrival

Please arrive at The Red Barn between 9-9.45am to register. To limit queuing please send the lead booker to our stand to collect the Santa suits for each team member.


Please note, there are no changing facilities available at The Red Barn, so wear something that you can put your Santa Suit over. The Santa suits come in adult size or child size, we can’t guarantee they will fit everyone perfectly, but that’s all part of the fun. Please feel free to bring anything you may need to customise your suit on the day! There is nowhere to leave bags etc. so we advise you to only bring what you need.



  • Parking

The Esplanade car park opposite the Red Barn will be open from 9am. At this time of the year some road side parking is free of charge.



  • Refreshments

The Red Barn will be selling breakfasts from 9am if you want to come early to fuel up before the event! 


You will receive a well-deserved finisher’s medal when you return to the finish. There will be water bowls at the end for your four-legged friend.


The Red Barn will also be hosting a beer, cider & music festival in the afternoon so you can continue the festive frivolity!



  • Start line

Please make your way to the far side of the stream on Woolacombe Beach, there will be marshals to show you the way. 


The event will start at 10.15am with a Santa warm up before you're waved off by Dame Honeybun and friends from the Queen's Theatre panto - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves!



  • The Route

There are two routes for you to follow:

Route 1 3K -  to Mill Rock and back. 

Route 2 5K -  to Putsborough and back. 


The turn around points will be marshalled and signed clearly.


Please note that this is not a timed race, but if you would like to record your time please feel free to use a personal device. This event is just for fun!


For your safety the route will be marshalled. Please adhere to any instructions given and respect the requests of marshals at all times.



  • Dogs

You can get your four-legged friend their own Christmas bandanna to wear so they are not left out. Buy your doggy bandanna for £5 at the following places:


  • North Devon Hospice Furniture Shop, Two Rivers Industrial Estate, Barnstaple. Monday to Saturday: 9.00am-4.30pm
  • Woolacombe Tourist Information Centre, The Esplanade, Woolacombe. Monday - Saturday, 10am-1pm. Call 01271 870553 to check opening times.


There will also be a number of bandannas available to buy on the day at The Red Barn.



  • Sponsorship

Please be aware that your entry fee goes towards the cost of running the event, so your sponsorship is incredibly important and will be used to care for patients and their loved ones throughout North Devon. Please download a sponsor form here or setup a Virgin Money Giving page here.


Maybe you could get sponsored for doing something different like completing the event backwards etc? Also for doggie owners taking part; who could resist sponsoring your pooch dressed in their Christmas best or their new bandanna?


You could set up a online giving page for your dog, showing off their cutest pose and send it to friends and family to help boost your efforts.



  • First Aid

There will be First Aiders on the day. If there is a medical emergency, you must call 999 straight away. You should also tell a marshal and notify the organisers on 07818 536810 so we can coordinate the emergency services.



  • Photography

We hope you take lots of photos for personal use and sharing, we will also be taking photos on the day to help promote the following years’ event.
