Book commemorates hospice therapy dog's life

Book commemorates hospice therapy dog's life

Gozo was a treasured member of the care team, and you can read all about how he made a difference

A beautiful new book has been launched, telling the story of a very special character who was a cherished member of the hospice care team.

Gozo spent many years as a pet therapy dog at North Devon Hospice, visiting patients and families every week to bring happiness and smiles during the toughest times. He was beloved by all and it was sad when he died after a short illness earlier this year.

But Gozo's owner, Paul Jewels, has worked with an incredible local illustrator to create a stunning new book, which tells the tale of this gentle Maltese dog and the difference he made to other people.

All proceeds from the book will go directly to North Devon Hospice, helping the patients and families who Gozo so loved to comfort. You can get your copy for just £7 using the link above.

Liz Harrison - whose husband was cared for by the hospice - remembers their visits from Gozo fondly: “He was such a calm and gentle dog. A visit would brighten both our days.”

Sue Friend from North Devon Hospice said: “We can’t thank Gozo and Paul enough for giving their time to support our patients and help ease their pain.”
