Be at the heart of the hospice in our Bedded Unit

We get by with a little help from our friends…

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a real difference by being one of the friendly faces that welcomes people to the hospice. Based on Reception in our Bedded Unit, you will greet patients, visitors, family members and healthcare professionals, helping them feel comfortable and supported from the moment they arrive. You will also answer telephone calls, transfer enquiries to the appropriate person, and provide general support to the Bedded Unit team.

As this is a public-facing role, we're looking for someone who enjoys meeting people and making others feel welcome. Excellent communication skills, a warm and approachable manner, and a willingness to help are essential. Your kindness and professionalism can make a significant difference to someone's day, particularly at what can be a challenging time for many of our visitors.

Further details about the role and what is involved can be found in the Role Brief.

We are looking for volunteers to support us during the week, Monday to Friday, 9.00am - 1.00pm or 12.30pm - 4.30pm

We can be flexible with volunteering hours and are happy to discuss start and finish times that work around your existing commitments. If you are interested in joining the team, please get in touch and we would be delighted to talk through the opportunities available and find a volunteering pattern that suits you.

For more information, please contact Deputy Team Lead, Vicky McDonald on 01271 344248.

Closing date for applications is 20th November 2026.

Informal interviews will be held at Deer Park on 7th December 2026.

Please note - a Standard DBS will be required along with two-character references upon your successful application.
