The comfort of your homes
Open to all who have lost someone special at any time in their lives
Free (donations for flowers & messages)
Remember someone you love. Honour their memory by including their name in our special Floating Bye event.
Floating Bye is usually an uplifting gathering on Instow beach, where we place flowers with messages to loved ones on a raft, which is then floated out to sea.
For everyone's safety, this year's Floating Bye will instead be broadcast live online, for all to enjoy from the comfort of their own homes.
Remember someone you love, and we will add their name to a special display of flowers, which you will be able to see during the live broadcast. It is a beautiful way to honour someone's memory and come together knowing we are not alone in missing someone close to us.
You are warmly invited to join us for this year's virtual Floating Bye event, by watching the live broadcast which will go out at 6pm on Sunday 23rd August on the North Devon Hospice Facebook page (and which will also be streamed to watch on this very page).
This special broadcast for you will be lead by members of the hospice's Supportive Care team. It will be a chance to come together and listen to comforting words in the form of poetry and readings. There will be soothing, reflective music and a chance to enjoy footage of previous Floating Bye events, from the safety of our own homes, wherever we are in the world.
And of course, your message or name of your loved one will be included in the display of flowers on show throughout. It will be a chance to remember those who are no longer with us, and come together virtually as a community.
To join in the special Floating Bye broadcast, and remember a loved one with us, simply join the Facebook Live video by clicking here between 5.30pm and 6pm the Sunday 23rd August. The live feed will be available to view from 5.30pm, with the actual service starting at 6pm (which we think will last about half an hour in total).
Alternatively, if you are not a Facebook user, the broadcast will also be available to view on this page from 5.30pm onwards on 23rd August.
The broadcast will be streamed from a beautiful room in the hospice called The Retreat, which will be decorated with gerbera flowers and your messages to your loved ones.
Your family and friends are very welcome to join us for this special online gathering to remember those who have touched our lives and are now no longer with us. Please do let them know this is happening so they can watch too.
To be part of Floating Bye this year, you can make your donation online and add your message using the buttons above and below.
We look forward to welcoming you to this very special online event and thank you for your kind support.
