What is it?

Walk > free pasty > free beers > watch the rugby together with a free curry.

Join us for Rugby Ramble 2022! It's a scenic 8km circular walk from Barnstaple Rugby Club, with a free hot pasty to get you going. Don't worry if you think the walk sounds like thirsty work, we've got your back! You'll enjoy a beer stop on the route, where you'll be treated to a free pint. Then, at the finish line, you'll get another free pint (to make sure you're fully re-hydrated!).

Once back at the club, you'll also get a free curry and hot buffet before we settle in and watch England v Wales in the Six Nations at 4.45 pm. There are also a whole load of treats planned on the route and back at the clubhouse, so this will be a top day out for you and your mates.

Best of all, by taking part, you'll be supporting families who are currently being cared for by North Devon Hospice. You'll be helping people who are facing the end of their life, making sure they are comfortable, free of pain and surrounded by their families.

Your motivation

Why take part in Rugby Ramble? It's quite simple; other local people need your support.

There are local people who are facing the end of their life, but your support means they can be properly cared for, pain-free, and able to create lasting memories with their loved ones in their final months, weeks or days.

Another vital part of the work of the hospice is supporting people who are facing the loss of a loved one. So your support means people like Steve from Barnstaple can access counselling following the loss of his wife...

It's time for us to band together and walk in support of each other because someday we could all be in the position of needing support from North Devon Hospice.

Every pound you raise will make a difference to someone local who is facing a tough time. So please step out to show your support, to provide care and comfort to those who need it.

Registration

The event is open to all over 18 years of age.

Your registration fee only covers the cost of staging such a large scale event. With your entry, you get 2x free pints, a pasty at the start, curry at the finish and of course your Rugby Ramble hat to wear with pride.

Please note that this year we are staggering start times for the walk. Please choose either a 1 pm or 1:30 pm start time with your ticket.

It is your sponsorship and fundraising efforts that will help local people who are facing the end of their life, or facing the loss of a loved one.

Raising money

Rugby Ramble is a sponsored event, where all funds raised by you will help local patients and families being cared for by North Devon Hospice. There is a suggested minimum target of £50, and you can choose how you achieve this; either by raising sponsorship from family and friends, doing some fundraising (like a raffle at work), or simply making a donation yourself.

We are sure it will be easy to hit your target because once you register we'll send you a whole pack of hints and tips to help you smash it. Here are just a few easy ways in which you can hit your target:

1) The easiest thing is to set up a JustGiving page. Share this with your friends, family and colleagues via email and social media, and watch the donations pour in

2) Hold a small fundraising event, such as a raffle at work or a quiz at the pub. This is an easy way to raise money if you feel you can't ask people for sponsorship (here are some fundraising tips to help you out too!)

3) You could even make a donation if that's what you feel most comfortable doing.
Every pound raised from your Rugby Ramble sponsorship will help North Devon Hospice care for local people right here in your local community.
