We get by with a little help from our friends…
Would you like to help support the hospice staff, who work on the bedded unit and in the community?
Every single one of our volunteers helps us provide outstanding care and support to the community of North Devon who are impacted by a life limiting illness. We really value the time all our volunteers give to us, and you will be making a real difference to the wellbeing of our clinical staff who are caring for our patients and their families.
This exciting new role offers the opportunity to be part of a committed professional team and make a genuine contribution to the wellbeing of the staff who are supporting patients under the care of North Devon Hospice.
This role would be suitable for those with a background in chaplaincy, counselling, pastoral care, or anyone with knowledge and understanding of the spiritual care needs within the palliative care environment. You will be expected to carry out your role in line with the hospice’s policies and procedures.
You will support staff by providing three hours of your time per week, offering 30 minutes to one-hour sessions for staff to book into.
We are looking to recruit a minimum of two pastoral support volunteers, who will each be able to provide three hours of their time to support staff to explore their thoughts and feelings around work-related issues, including the emotional impact of death and caring for individuals and their families who are dying.
You will be required to participate in monthly 1:1 supervision with a member of our Supportive Care Team.
